What is TRAMA BCN?

A proximity cultural activation platform designed as light, replicable cultural infrastructure, connecting contemporary art, mediation and community in Barcelona.

A platform, not an exhibition

TRAMA BCN is a citizen art and proximity cultural mediation platform. It does not operate as a traditional exhibition or as an isolated cultural event. It works as a network of collaborations between galleries, artists, community spaces, institutions, companies and local agents.

The aim is not to “bring art to the neighbourhood” from the outside, but to build a horizontal, situated relationship between contemporary art and community, where mediation, listening and participation are as important as the artwork itself.

The problem

Barcelona has a dense and diverse cultural ecosystem, yet many citizens still do not connect meaningfully with contemporary art. At the same time, many neighbourhood spaces have the capacity to activate community life, but lack stable bridges with the professional artistic ecosystem.

TRAMA BCN responds to this gap:

  • Brings art to everyday spaces.
  • Activates new audiences through adapted mediation.
  • Strengthens local cultural fabric by connecting diverse agents.
  • Offers companies and institutions a concrete way to support measurable cultural impact.

The solution

TRAMA BCN proposes a model beyond the traditional exhibition. It does not only display artworks; it activates relationships between art, territory and community through:

Temporary artwork loans

Collaboration with local galleries, artists and, where appropriate, private collections to enable temporary access to artworks.

Proximity activations

Cultural interventions in civic centres, libraries, neighbourhood associations and community facilities across Barcelona.

Active cultural mediation

Workshops, conversations, mediated visits and educational activities adapted to each community context.

Local circulation

A neighbourhood-scale circulation model that expands access, activates local audiences and connects different parts of the city.

Positioning

TRAMA BCN positions itself as light cultural infrastructure, scalable and replicable, capable of growing through neighbourhoods and consolidating as a tool for local transformation through citizen art.

Key phrase: TRAMA BCN turns cultural sponsorship into local activation with measurable social impact.

Institutional Framework

Governance, funding and transparency.

TRAMA BCN is conceived as a professional cultural platform with documented procedures, clear responsibilities and measurable public value.

Entity

Local operating structure

The Barcelona chapter is promoted through a local operating structure based in Barcelona, with TRAMA BCN connected to the broader Exodus & Resilience framework.

Funding

Sponsorship and partnerships

The model combines sponsorship, institutional collaboration and service-based formats to finance activations, mediation and impact documentation.

Reporting

Measurable cultural value

Each activation is designed with basic indicators, documentation and reporting so partners can understand the cultural, social and territorial value generated.
